“So thankful that we have such a top-notch studio in our small town. I love the structure and the technique focus—and that the kids (and adults!) have this space to have fun and explore art and movement. Central Dance Academy is a second home for me and my daughter!

“I absolutely love the atmosphere and structure the CDA provides. Welcoming and disciplined. My daughter absolutely loves dance class. All of the teachers and helpers make you feel at ease with all the updated information, and I love seeing how much each of them has such a love for dance themselves.”
Ashley
“I was not a dancer, so this is an all new experience for me, but it has been wonderful. The teachers, staff, and girls are wonderful. My daughter loves everything about it, and we are excited about our new dance ‘family.’”

FAQ

Q: What types of classes do you offer?

A:  We offer a wide range of weekly classes for ages 2-Adult. These include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, pom, lyrical/contemporary, modern, musical theater, tumbling, boys, uniquely you, and adult. Click here for our current schedule.
We also offer summer camps, technique classes, and pop-ups. Click here for class descriptions.
Periodically we bring master classes to the studio as well. Follow us on social media to stay informed.

Q: What is a "Combo" class?

A:  At Central Dance Academy, our Youth Combination classes consist of half of the class time being for ballet and half of the class time being for tap. At show, the dancers will perform both a ballet dance as well as a tap dance. For these classes we choose a two-in-one costume that has a leotard base and two different skirts. For class, students will wear pink tights. For show they will need both pink and tan.

Q: Is Jazz/HipHop also considered a combo class?

A:  Yes and no. In this class the dancers are taught basic techniques of jazz while incorporating a little bit of hip hop. The dancers do not have two separate shoes, costumes or dances, unlike the regular combo classes.

Q: What does it cost to take classes?

A:  Please review the schedule page . Also, please note that we offer multi-class discounts for 3 or more classes as well as a referral program.

Please email the studio at Lemars@cdaiowa.com for full pricing details.

Q: What do I need for class?

A:  All of our classes have some type of dress code. General dress code and shoe requirements can be found in the class descriptions online and full details may be found in our, annually updated, Parent and Student Handbook.

Shoes must always be sized by one of our faculty for proper fit.  We order shoes, leotards and other dance apparel for our families.

Q: What is Company?

A:  The CDA company is our group of competitive dancers. They range in age from 4 years old to 18 years old.  In addition to performing at competitions, these dancers have the opportunity to take master classes all over Siouxland and to also perform at local events.

For more information please review the information in our Competition Teams section or contact us with questions.

Q: Do you offer private lessons?

A: Yes, we do offer private lessons. These are great for students wanting to have private coaching/training. Private lessons are an excellent way for the student to focus on specific skills or help excel in any genre of dance.

Q: How can I register?

A: Registrations can be done online here or stop up to the office and we can assist you and answer any additional questions!
